Middle East oil giant Taqa has appointed Michael McGuinty as its new general counsel and company secretary.
He will replace Steven Phillips, due to retire at the end of this year, and take on a position on the executive management team reporting to chief executive Carl Sheldon.
“We are delighted that Michael is joining Taqa. He has an excellent track record and his experience in the energy industry gained across the world will be an asset to the company. I wish to thank Steve for his invaluable contribution over the past seven years with Taqa,” said Mr Sheldon.
The 51-year-old joins Taqa from Schlumberger where he was deputy general counsel and director for compliance. Prior to that he held various senior legal positions in the company in the Middle East, Europe and North America including director of legal operations heading up a global team of 140 lawyers.
