Project management giant Amec has landed a £76million contract in the United Arab Emirates.
The company today confirmed it has been awarded a five-year project management consultancy services contract with the Abu Dhabi Marine Company for their Umm Lulu Phase-2 full field development projects offshore UAE.
Amec was responsible for the first phase of Umm Lulu and the Nasra phase 1 project.
The latest contract includes project management of the engineering, procurement and construction contractors delivering a large offshore super complex in the Umm Lulu Field.
The super complex will feature six bridge-linked platforms including gathering, separation, gas treatment and water disposal facilities, utilities and accommodation modules.
Amec says the contract will create an additional 100 jobs in Abu Dhabi.
“Further expansion in the Middle East is a key part of Amec’s growth strategy,” said operations director Ross Gibson.
“It is great to see we are winning repeat business based on our previous performance and strength of our local capabilities.”
The engineering giant also confirmed today it has been awarded a three-year contract by Horizon Nuclear Power for its proposed nuclear power stations in Wylfa on Anglesey and Oldbury in South Gloucestershire.
Amec declined to confirm the value of the contract but said it would be providing Horizon with environmental consultancy and technical services to enable permitting, licensing and regulatory consents for the proposed reactors.
President of the company’s clean energy Europe business, Clive White said: “Amec has been involved in every single new build programme in the UK, and having the opportunity to partner with Horizon will allow us to support the delivery of nuclear power stations at Wylfa and Olbury, which will be a huge investment in the UK’s nuclear industry, creating both national and local employment opportunities.”
Horizon chief operating officer Alan Raymant said the contract showed the company’s commitment to working with UK suppliers were possible.
“Working with our new framework suppliers and their supply chains, I’m confident we will continue to progress our detailed plans as we prepare for our first formal public consultation next year,” he said.
