Workers taken off the Buchan Alpha platform after last week’s hurricane are due to return to work before the end of this week, it has been confirmed.
More than 80 staff were taken off the platform by Talisman Sinopec, which has escaped damage after the 100-knot storm which blasted the North Sea late last week.
Staff started returning at the weekend as conditions returned to normal in the North Sea, with the remainder due to fly out before tomorrow – a week after being evacuated.
“On Sunday 33 personnel were safely returned to the Buchan Alpha according to plan, and we anticipate returning to full complement by Wednesday,” the company said.
With the 5000 boed platform not permitted to operate in waves of more than 6.75m, the company shut down production and removed their staff from the facility.
The operator said the platform, which sits around 80 miles north east of Aberdeen, had not suffered any damage despite the weather conditions.
