An Aberdeen-based well integrity firm has scooped the Leading Commercial Application Award at the 2013 Platts Global Energy Awards.
Meta was one of 15 winners out of more than 200 nominations at the New York event, deemed the Oscars of the energy sector.
The company scooped the award for its Metalmorphology formula in which metal-to-metal isolation solutions “morph” together to fit the shape of the well.
“Despite the increased focus on well integrity since the Macondo disaster, too often well integrity is viewed as a reactive process where problems are tackled as and when they occur,” said
Kevin Stewart, chief executive of Meta.
“Metalmorphology changes this, enabling operators to create downhole isolation throughout the lifetime of the well and delivering reduced risk, increased future production, and profitable and productive wells.”
The annual awards, sponsored by Mercer, recognise industry-wide developments in terms of efficiency, practicality and profit.
