An engineering boss has hailed a “new breed” of professional managers from Robert Gordon University’s (RGU) Aberdeen Business School.
Jim Milne, chairman and managing director of Balmoral Offshore Engineering, handed sponsorship prizes worth £5,000 to three graduates of RGU’s MSc Project Management programme.
Aberdeen-based Balmoral has supported the programme since 2007 with the annual prize fund that is shared among the top three students on the course.
The winner of this year’s award was Mutaz Abu-Zaid with his paper focusing on recurring failures and risk management in experienced organisations. He received a cheque for £2,500 at the prize-giving presentation on December 19.
For the first time in the award’s eight-year history, there was a tie for runner-up place with papers on knowledge creation and stakeholder engagement by Hasan Bin Sohail and Atiah Stephens respectively. Both received a cheque for £1,250.
“We all know how competitive today’s business environment is,” Milne said.
“I believe our three winning students characterise a new breed of professional managers.”
