An appraisal well in the Sagiz West field in Kazakhstan has brought “successful drilling results”, according to the prospect operator Max Petroleum.
The SAGW-8 appraisal well reached a vertical depth of 1,351 metres with electric logs indicating seven metres of net pay in the Triassic Formation at vertical depths between 1,225 and 1,249 metres.
The company is preparing for casing and testing of the reservoir, judged as of “very good” quality.
Max’s drilling focus will move to the SAGW-11 well in the southern part of the field – one of four wells remaining in the current appraisal programme for Sagiz West.
