Energy services provider FMC Technologies has sealed a $114million contract with Statoil for a well intervention system on one of its Norwegian Sea fields.
The Houston-based firm, which has offices in Aberdeen, will manufacture and supply a workover system to increase performance and oil recovery from the Snorre B platform’s subsea wells.
“This workover system is designed to support Statoil’s standardized subsea equipment and its scheduling program for Snorre B,” said Tore Halvorsen, FMC Technologies’ senior vice president, Subsea Technologies.
“By standardizing the workover system, rig time can be more efficiently allocated, reducing costs and enhancing productivity.”
Statoil is looking to further develop the Snorre field, operational since 1992, in a £4billion bid to extend its life until 2040.
