First production from the second well on the Rochelle North Sea field has been delayed after the recent storms in the North Sea, it has emerged.
Oil firm Endeavour said the current conditions in the North Sea had forced the hook-up of the new E2 production well on the field to be delayed until mid-January.
“The Skandi Achiever, the vessel handling the final hook-up of the Xmas tree to the East Rochelle manifold, is prepared to finish the installation as soon as the weather window opens,” the company said.
Output from the Nexen-operated field, around 115miles north-east of Aberdeen, came online in October, with production at 65million to 70million cubic feet of gas per day, along with a further 3,000 barrels of oil equivalent.
That number is expected to increase dramatically once the second, East, well comes online, with output expected to be greater than the limits allowed by Nexen’s Scott platform.
