One of the directors of energy watchdog Ofgem’s supervising body has joined Falklands oil explorer Rockhopper.
Keith Lough, who is a non-executive director of the UK Gas and Electricity Markets Authority, which oversees energy regulator Ofgem, has joined the Falklands-focused firm in a similar capacity.
The company said it was proposing the 54-year-old as chairman of the company’s audit and risk committee, and renumeration committee.
Lough was a founder of unconventional gas explorer Composite Energy, and is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
“He has a long track record in the natural resources industry and his expertise will be hugely helpful as we move Sea Lion towards development and look to renew our exploration efforts in the North Falklands Basin,” said chief executive Sam Moody.
His appointment comes as independent director Chris Walton announced he was to stand down.
