Australian oil and gas exploration firm Oilex is preparing to spud its first well at the onshore Cambay prospect in India.
The firm says contractors are preparing to start drilling work at the site, with the estimated spud date window between February 22 and March 9.
Oilex today said assembly of the Essar LR-4 rig had started and components were arriving on site from Mumbai.
The firm says the well will assess the production potential of the extensive Eocene ‘tight’ Y Zone reservoir, which extends across around 161km2 in the Cambay contract area.
“We are very pleased with the continued progress seen at Cambay-77H and selecting the drilling services contractors is another important milestone that has helped us to refine the spud date for the well,” said Oilex managing director Ron Miller.
