Brazilian energy major Petrobras has flowed into the state gas pipeline network the first LNG from its newest regasification terminal, opened late last week.
The $1billion (£610million) Bahia Regasification Terminal (TRBA) increased the company’s natural gas regasification capacity by 14million cubic metres per day to 41million cubic metres per day.
Petrobras is already operating two regasification terminals in Brazil: at Pecém and Guanabara Bay, at a combined capacity of 27million cubic metres per day.
The LNG for the plants is imported from various suppliers around the world in order to meet the domestic demand for natural gas and to increase the country’s energy security to encourage new investment.
