A decision on how to progress with the development of the giant Johan Sverdrup field in the North Sea will be made within the next few days, one of the project’s partners has revealed.
Start-up on the 3billion barrel field has been delayed until the end of 2019 after the project developers – Lundin, Maersk, Det norske and Statoil – put back a decision on the concept for the prospect.
Now Lundin has revealed a decision on how to progress the £13billion prospect is imminent.
Lundin chief operational officer Erik Sverre Jenssen confirmed at the company’s capital day that the development concept would be decided within the next couple of weeks.
The front end engineering design contract for the project has already been awarded, with Aker Solutions having landed the £65m deal to provide support for the field.
