China’s Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore has won orders to build an ice-class semi-submersible drilling rig and a multi-purpose drillship.
The harsh environment semi has been ordered by Beacon Holdings Group and will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2016. The contract comes with an option to build a further GM4-D class rig.
To be named the Beacon Atlantic, the rig is designed by Global Maritime and will be built to operate in water depths to 500m and drill to 8,000m. It will be equipped with an NOV drilling package, DP3 and an eight-point mooring system.
The multi-purpose drillship to be built for Norwegian entity Norshore Holdings is scheduled to be delivered in the second half of 2016.
The deal also comes with options to construct up to another three similar drillships.
The drillship is a small-sized, multipurpose unit designed for riserless drilling and well intervention operations globally, including the North Sea.
CIMC Raffles has also landed an order from Central Shipping Monaco (CSM) to build two jack-ups for delivery at the end of next year.
