Offshore engineering firm Maritime Developments has landed a clutch of contracts for Subsea 7 as part of the company’s work off the coast of Brazil.
The Peterhead-based firm did not disclose the value of the deal, but described the contracts as ‘significant’ as it gears up to provide thirty winches and three tensioners.
The deal is part of Subsea 7’s contract with Petrobras for the construction and operation of three new pipe-lay support vessels, and comes after Maritime Developments’ contract to provide 10 winches and a tensioner for Subsea 7’s Seven Waves vessel.
“This is hugely significant for the business and takes us on to the next level,” said chief executive Derek Smith.
“We have the scope to take on these contracts and any additional projects due to the fact we’ve increased the size of our operations in Peterhead and Aberdeen in the past year as part of an overall strategy to grow the business.”
The firm, among the exhibitors at Subsea Expo this week, will also provide a 50-tonne four-track tensioner, winch package and powerpack for Subsea 7.
