Wärtsilä has struck a deal to provide pumping solutions for the new floating storage unit to support the giant Mariner North Sea field.
The Finnish technology firm will provide a range of services, including process and cargo pumps, ballast and water pumps for the floating unit, which is currently being built in South Korea.
It marks the latest contract to be issued for work on the field, which sits around 150km east of the Shetlands.
“Wärtsilä has extensive experience in this market area, particularly with our electrically driven deepwell pumps,” said Watsilla gas solutions vice president Timo Koponen.
“The fact that SHI, one of the major players in this industry, has chosen Wärtsilä speaks highly of our offering.”
Delivery of the pump units is expected to be completed by spring next year, with the floating storage unit in operation for 2017.
