North-east diving and subsea equipment specialist Divex said yesterdaymon a new joint venture with US military supply firm Chase Supply could lead to new military business in the US.
Divex, which has its headquarters in Westhill, near Aberdeen, said the collaborative agreement with Virginia-based Chase would have a particular focus on the sale of its military-use diving rebreathers and associated equipment.
“There is also potential for the scope of the product to extend to embrace other relevant Divex products,” the firm added.
“We are extremely pleased to have found such a solid business fit with the team at Chase ,” said Derek Clarke, joint managing director of Divex. He added: “We have no doubt that the blend of both companies’ capabilities, expertise, customer support and enthusiasm will bring success.”
Divex, which was snapped up by marine service group James Fisher and Sons last year in a deal that was potentially worth £33million, is known the world over for its diving and subsea equipment.
It employs more than 170 people at Westhill and about 230 globally.
As well as its north-east HQ, it has manufacturing, sales and support operations in Stirling, London, Germany, Dubai, South Africa and Australia.
