Energy services group 3Sun has been awarded £10million funding from the Business Growth Fund to expand its operations in the UK and Europe.
The Great Yarmouth-headquartered firm, which has a base in Aberdeenshire, was founded in 2007 and currently employs 240 people and 31 apprentices. It supplies control panels for offshore oil and gas, platform and subsea applications, as well as offering installation, inspection and maintenance services to the offshore wind sector.
3Sun says the funding will be used to ramp up expansion of its Great Yarmouth base and advance operations in the UK and northern Europe.
Managing director Graham Hacon said: “We are outgrowing our current premises and expect 50 more employees by March 2015 increasing by an extra 200 by March 2017, so we will be investing in a new site for our group headquarters.
“The investment will also allow us to continue to innovate our high quality service delivery worldwide and bring a variety of new products and service solutions to the marketplace, along with new overseas locations.”
