An Aberdeenshire oil services firm has called on North Sea firms to collaborate on technology after launching a new system aimed at clearing more blockages and increasing oil recovery.
Paradigm Flow Services’ new system, launched at the ITF showcase in Aberdeen, is aimed at improving the reach of its blockage remediation technology to greater depths than previously.
Deployment issues and a lack of flexibility in previous approaches to clearing risers and flowlines limited them to distances of 200m, with Paradigm claiming their new extended Flexi-Coil system can work up to ten times that distance.
“The only other option at the moment is to disconnect risers and bring another rig on site to carry out conventional coiled tubing,” said managing director Rob Bain.
“The safety and logistical implications have rendered this option redundant.
“Our method means the shut in line can be left in-situ and we can enter using existing facilities, reducing risk for operators.”
The Kintore-based firm said the new system would open up lines that had previously been shut for months, increasing oil recovery from the North Sea
“Mature offshore basins such as the North Sea and West Africa are key markets for this,” said Mr Bain.
“We are calling on UK operators to partner on the bespoke development of the technology to really push its boundaries and address the main issues they are facing.”
