An Aberdeen oil drilling group is celebrating after drilling its 500th well.
The Norway-based firm, which has a major operation in Aberdeen to serve the North Sea, has now drilled on average one well every ten days for clients since the turn of the millennium.
The firm’s Aberdeen operation oversaw drilling on the landmark well, which took place during work off Equatorial Guinea.
“Reaching this remarkable milestone of 500 wells around the world is a fantastic achievement for us and one of which we are all very proud,” said AGR chief executive Åge Landro.
Among the list of the world’s top 10 operators we are the only well management company to have drilled such a high number of offshore exploration wells globally.
“Over the past 13 years we have worked continuously to develop and adapt our services to meet the needs of our clients and add value to their operations efficiently and safely.”
Last year the company doubled its income, with earnings of £20.5million following increased production activity.
