New technologies designed to support the development of shale gas reservoirs in the UK will be on display at Unconventional Gas Aberdeen 2014 next week.
Service companies Schlumberger and Halliburton are among the exhibitors that will showcase technologies focused on direction drilling, reservoir characterisation, cementing and stimulation at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Schlumberger industry affairs and business development director Jorgen Berg said: “Technology will play a major part in the future of the UK’s development of the unconventional industry.
“Technology and efficiency improvements can lead to significant reductions in operational impacts, whilst at the same time optimising the drilling and reservoir investment and minimising the down-hole exposures.”
Delegates at the event will hear about the role of technology in reducing land use and community impacts, while allowing the production of a gas resource that could help to support the UK’s energy security and reduce dependence on imported gas.
The aim of the industry-led conference is to highlight barriers to development and present practical solutions based on academic research or experience from energy or related industries.
