Offshore contractor Jumbo has signed a contract with Subsea 7 for the provision of mooring piles and ground chains for the Dana Western Isles development project.
Upon completion in late 2015 the Dana owned Western Isles field, estimated to hold 45million barrels, will be developed using subsea wells tied back to a centrally located floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO).
The installation of the mooring piles and chains on the FPSO are due to start in the summer by Jumbo’s dynamically positioned heavy lift vessel, Fairplayer.
“This award allows for a robust North Sea installation campaign with the opportunities to materialize synergy,” said Roddy Lafontaine, Jumbo’s manager of commerce offshore.
“Western Isles will give us more experience in operating the harsher environment of the northern North Sea.”
