Global oil and gas services provider Petrofac has been awarded an engineering and procurement contract for the Rabab Harweel Integrated Project (RHIP) in South Oman.
The contract with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), valued at more than $1billion (£610million), also covers construction and commissioning management support services for the planned oil and sour gas processing facility.
The RHIP facility is set to handle the production of oil and gas from the Harweel oil reservoirs and the production of gas with condensate from the Rabab reservoir, delivering a peak export of 4.9million cubic metres of sweet gas and 9700 cubic metres of condensate per day in addition to around 16million cubic metres of high pressure sour injection.
“This contract is a key milestone in the development of our EPCm (engineering, procurement and construction management) delivery strategy within ECS (engineering and consulting services),” said Craig Muir, managing director for Petrofac’s ECS business.
“We have a strong track record in Oman with PDO as well as direct (EPC) experience on the previous Harweel development.
“This award also underpins Petrofac’s strategy to enhance service capability in the Middle East; providing added value to our regional customers as well as our onshore and offshore EPC business.”
In February the company secured a $1.2 billion EPC contract for the Khazzan gas project in the Sultanate with BP.
