Robin Watson, the chief Executive of energy services giant Wood Group PSN, has snapped up an award as one of Scotland’s top company directors.
Mr Watson, who took on his role in January of last year, took home the award for IoD Scotland Director of the Year in a businesses over £35million turnover category at a ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow last night.
IoD Scotland Executive Director David Watt said: “Robin has built the group into a genuine world player with successful results.
“Growth has been secured in a planned and systematic way in an industry known for volatility and risk – which is quite simply a world class achievement thanks to his all-round leadership skills.”
Gregor Mackintosh, founder of Aberdeenshire rapeseed oil firm Mackintosh of Glendaveny also won the Prince’s Trust Youth Business Scotland Director Award.
Peter Bruce, chief executive of north-east catering firm Entier walked away with the Director Award for Workplace Health, Safety & Wellbeing.
Martin Dorchester, chief executive of CalMac, won an accolade as top public sector director.
Ben Murray, director of Dingwall-based live shellfish supplier Keltic Seafare won the regional director award for the Highlands and Islands, while Louise Wood, managing director of Aberdeen recruitment firm, Prodrill Energy Resource Solutions, bagged the Aberdeen & Grampian director award.
Ronie Walters, director of community interest company Orkney Micro Renewables won as SCVO Third Sector Director.
Mr Watt said that a record number of entries and the high calibre of the finalists meant the judges faced difficult decisions.
