North Sea operator Noreco has begun work on the Verdande prospect as it looks to confirm oil on the find.
The Norwegian Sea prospect, which is thought to contain up to 236million barrels of oil, is being drilled by the Bredford Dolphin rig.
Drilling on the prospect, which Noreco operates with partners Explora, Dana and E.On, is expected to take up to 81 days.
