Tullow Oil has snapped up more than 3000km of 3D data for Namibia as it looks to identify new oil targets off the African coast.
The 3D seismic scan of the offshore acreage for the production licence, off the Namibian coast, comes as work prepares on a neighbouring prospect thought to contain almost 500million barrels of oil equivalent.
Project partner Pancontinental said the scans had revealed ‘high quality oil-prone source rocks’, with data processing now underway on the scans, along with a 2D data acquisition programme.
