Offshore equipment firm Aquaterra Energy has won a £10million contract to provide drill centre templates (DCTs) for Premier Oil’s North Sea Catcher project.
Aquaterra, which is headquartered in Norwich but has an operation in Aberdeen, said the contract was awarded following its completion of a similar project for Premier in Vietnam.
Eric Doyle, Europe regional director at Aquaterra, said: “This is an extremely prestigious contract and plays to our strength in delivering the full project scope from design and structural analysis, through procurement, fabrication, assembly and finally load-out.
“The project will be led by our dedicated team in Aberdeen, with the specialist support of our engineering and technical teams in Norwich.”
The Catcher development comprises three fields in the UK North Sea (Catcher, Burgman and Varadero) encompassing 22 wells at a water depth of 90m.
Premier Oil is developing the 80million barrel field with Cairn Energy and Hungarian group MOL.
James Larnder, technical sales director at Aquaterra Energy, said: “The six steel DCTs, each weighing over 100 tonnes, complete with super-duplex piping manifolds, will enable the drilling of production and water injection wells without the need for rig moves for each cluster of wells.
“Delivery of the six structures is scheduled to take place during 2015 and Q1 2016 when they will then be installed on the seabed ready for use during Premier’s drilling programme.”
The firm officially opened its office in the Granite City two years ago, aiming to increase its North Sea revenues to about £16million.
