Production from a troubled North Sea field has been shut down again – and may not resume until May, it has emerged.
The Huntington field, which has been plagued with technical problems since start-up, only returned to full capacity at the end of last year.
But now the field has been shut in once again while repair works are carried out on the floating production and storage unit which serves the project.
Field partner Noreco said restart on the field, which has been interrupted since April 12, was now expected to take place sometime between the end of April and May 7.
The interruption was to allow couplings on the inert gas system to be replaced, the firm said.
The North Sea field, around 200km east of Aberdeen, is expected to produce around 40,000 barrels of oil once back at peak operation.
