Baker Hughes Inc is breaking with industry practice in saying it will disclose all the chemicals it uses for hydraulic fracturing.
Its objectives in letting go of trade secret claims is achieving “a balance that increases public trust while encouraging commercial innovation,” the Houston-based company said.
Complete lists of the products and chemical in its fracking fluid will be made available, the company said.
The oilfield services company said it endorses FracFocus, the national hydraulic fracturing chemical registry managed by the Groundwater Protection Council and the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.
