Inverness firm Korrie Renewables has completed development of the city’s first renewable energy park with the creation of 12 jobs.
The £350,000 Korrie Energy Park will open on Wednesday to coincide with a two-day renewables exhibition being launched by the company.
The company currently employs 100 people, and 12 jobs have been created fabricating the systems and cabins for rollout to an expanding client base.
The facility has been created on land acquired at Carsegate Road North and includes cabins showcasing their custom-made biomass, ground source and air source heating systems plus a room for meetings and presentations.
Their renewable energy team will be based in the park, which also includes a fabrication area for building new systems to order.
Donnie Fraser, managing director of the Korrie Group, said: “We’ve enjoyed striking success since creating our dedicated renewable energy division two years ago and are now ready to take it to the next level.
“Our own design of biomass heating system has proved very popular for the savings it offers. We also supply solutions in ground source, air source, solar photovoltaic panels, solar thermal and carbon management.”
The company has recently completed renewables contracts at Gordonstoun School, Speyside High, Thurso High, West Highland College, Highland Folk Museum, Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC, Forss House Hotel in Thurso, Anderson Clark motor dealership in Inverness and Findhorn Foundation.
Mr Fraser said: ”The idea of establishing our own dedicated Korrie Energy Park, separate from our wider mechanical and plumbing service division, began last year and has taken six months to fully develop.
“The advantage is that you can take a client along and they can see a fully operational version of, for instance, a biomass cabin, which give them much greater insight and assurance.
“This park will, we hope, give Inverness a greater focus as a centre for renewable energy solutions – and underline our status as the market leader for these solutions.”
The two-day renewables exhibition will be held at the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness on Wednsday April 30 and Thursday May 1. The company has 16 other supply chain businesses partnering them in the initiative.
The first day of the exhibition is aimed at the business and public sectors while May 1 will be aimed at the domestic consumer.
