The first commercial windfarm equipped with Gamesa 4.5MW wind turbines has been inaugurated in Finland at Simo.
The four G128-4.5 MW machines, specifically designed to withstand low temperatures, are the most powerful installed in this market so far. The client is TuuliWatti.
The 18MW project is part of the framework agreement that Gamesa reached at the end of 2012 with the Finnish company to supply 135MW of turbines.
Of these, 123MW have already become firm orders: in addition to the Simo windfarm, 54MW and 36MW of Gamesa 4.5MW turbines will be supplied to the Tornio and Pori windfarms, respectively, and 15MW to the Salo windfarm using 5.0MW turbines.
Last year, Gamesa signed a second framework agreement with the Finnish company for the supply of up to 285MW of its 5.0MW turbines.
