Oil and Gas UK (OGUK) is to hold its first annual conference next month, just over seven years since the industry body was launched.
The Aberdeen event will feature experts from across the energy sector and speakers from the UK and Scottish governments, including First Minister Alex Salmond.
OGUK chief executive Malcolm Webb said: “We’ve listened to what our members are looking for – opportunities to network, to increase their industry knowledge and to debate future of this sector. I believe this conference will fit the bill on all fronts.
“ Crucially, I hope this event will produce tangible benefits for the North Seas by echoing Sir Ian Wood’s call for greater collaboration in our region.”
The conference is taking a lead from Sir Ian’s report, published earlier this year, by taking the general theme of maximising economic recovery.
Wood Group’s former chairman will present his views on the industry and progress to date during the two-day event at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on June 11 and 12.
The organisation’s business development director, Stephen Marcos Jones, said: “We’re pleased to have a real cross section of contributors, including the UK and Scottish governments, regulators, academics, operators and contractors at this conference. We hope it will become an annual flagship event.”
