Centrica Resources Norge has reported its two exploration drills in the Ula formation, located in the Southern North Sea, have come up dry.
The 8/10-5 S and 8/10-5 A were to a total depth of 2750 metres and 2263 metres. The pair will now be plugged and abandoned.
The data collected from the wells will be used for further development of another discovery in the area, the 8/10-4 S.
The firm’s exploration programme in the Norwegian North Sea is looking to capitalise on its oil discovery from 2011, the Butch field.
Centrica holds 40% of the Ula licence and acts as the site’s operator. Suncor (30%), Tullow (15%) and Faroe Petroleum (15%) own the remaining shares.
