Dana Petroleum has successfully installed its export/import pipeline for the Western Isles Development Project.
Director of capital development projects Hugh McClure heralded the move as another “milestone achievement” for the exploration scheme.
He said: “We are pleased to have completed the first part of the 2014 offshore subsea campaign safely, successfully and on schedule. This is another important milestone achievement for the Western Isles Development Project.”
The pipeline, which was fabricated and inspected at Subsea 7’s spoolbase in Leith, will export excess gas to the Tern-North Cormorant pipeline. It will also be used to import lift gas and fuel as needed.
The milestone completions are coming in quick succession for the firm.
Last month, Dana Petroleum confirmed first hydrocarbons had flowed from its flagship project.
The $1.6billion endeavour will see Dana and project partner Cieco develop the Harris and Barra fields around 160km east of Shetland.
The partners will focus on the subsea development of at least five production and four water injection wells tied back to a new build floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO).
It is expected to produce around 40,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day once it comes online next year.
