Expro has landed a major contract to test oil wells for an onshore field in Iraq.
Expro was contracted in for the multi-year agreement to use its SONAR metering technology to measure estimated production from the wells.
The high-frequency testing is aimed at reducing environmental and safety risks.
“Our small footprint, non-intrusive SONAR technology enables high-frequency, safe, flareless production testing, which is important to the redevelopment of these fields,” said Patrick Curry, Expro meters general manager.
As part of the contract, Expro will recruit and train local Iraqi engineers with the view that they will then take the project forward.
Selim Djandji, region director for Middle East North Africa, said: “Expro is committed to the local communities where we work, including recruitment and training of indigenous workforce – delivering new technology to the Iraq oil and gas industry.”
Expro has tested more than 500 wells in Iraq since it set-up its Middle East operations in 2012.
