Norwegian energy giant Statoil is looking to significantly boost the production from its Troll discovery with the installation of new gas compressors.
The firm estimates the addition of two new compressors to its existing two modules will result in an increase of more than 83billion standard cubic metres (scm) from the Troll A platform. (per day/ week?)
The two units were lifted onto the installation on today and are set to come online next year.
The project will ensure a daily export capacity of 120 million scm of gas and annual production of 30 billion scm, Statoil said.
“Installing new modules weighing a total of more than 6 000 tonnes on an existing platform in operation is a huge task,” said Knut Solemslie, production manager on Troll A.
“This has been planned for a long time, and it is therefore positive that we have reached this milestone, which is important for Troll A’s gas deliveries over the next 50 years.”
In addition to Troll, Statoil has set out to install new compressors on Kvitebjørn, Åsgard, Kristin and Heidrun – an operation estimated to contribute more than 1.2 billion barrels of additional oil equivalents.
