Engineering group Costain has won a new contract with Centrica Energy for its Barrow Gas Terminals project.
The deal covering engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services follows a previous contract between the two companies for front end engineering design of the project’s onshore terminals.
The £84million project, due by the end of 2015, will process gas from North and South Morecambe and surrounding fields in the East Irish Sea.
“The Barrow Gas Terminals provide enough gas to meet the demand for 1.5million homes in the UK and are key to securing the nation’s future energy needs,” said Andrew Wyllie, chief executive of Costain.
“Having previously provided Centrica Energy with front end consultancy for the terminals project, we are now delighted to build on our five-year collaboration with the company with this further contract.”
