Global engineering group Kentz has won a $125million contract for the Qatargas LNG plant in Qatar.
The deal with Qatargas Operating Company covers a turnkey process package of a new wastewater facility at the plant, including engineering, procurement, installation, construction and commissioning (EPICC) services to four LNG trains, due for completion in 2016.
The work will be carried out by Kentz’s engineering and projects (E&P) business unit and is set to employ up to 440 staff.
This is the second contract the group has signed with Qatargas over the LNG plant. The 2009 deal comprised of electrical, instrumentation and telecommunications work on the Ras Laffan Industrial City facility.
“Kentz is extremely happy to be awarded this package and to continue our long-standing relationship with Qatargas,” said Tush Doshi, group president of Kentz’ engineering and projects business unit
“This award signals the continued achievements of our E&P business in the region and reflects the successful outcome of a focused strategy within one of our core markets.
“All three business units have experienced impressive growth across the Middle East in recent years and we have a very positive outlook across the region.”
