North Sea operator Premier Oil has achieved first gas form its offshore Indonesian block destined for the local domestic market.
Under the domestic swap agreement (DSA) with the country, Premier will deliver up to an additional 40billion British thermal units per day (bbtud) gross from its operated Natuna Sea Block A, offshore Indonesia, for the country’s domestic use.
The company will also supply Singapore from the Natuna Sea block’s output, replacing the existing supplies from Sumatra to Singapore. The Sumatra volumes will now be redirected to the Indonesian domestic gas market.
“We are delighted that our operated Natuna Sea fields are now delivering gas into the Indonesian domestic market as well as into Singapore via this innovative commercial agreement between multiple parties in Singapore and Indonesia,” said Tony Durrant, Premier Oil’s chief executive.
