Italian energy firm Eni has signed a cooperation agreement with the Congolese Minister of hydrocarbons over new exploration of the country’s coastal basin.
The area in question stretches from onshore Mayombe to the deep-offshore and adds to Eni’s existing activities in the region in the Madingo, Marine and Marine VI VII fields, which recently received permit extensions.
The Italian major has been operating in Republic of Congo since 1968. 2013 production in the country was about 120,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
