Centrica Resources Norway’s North Sea wildcat well has come up dry.
8/10-6 S was drilled 13km southwest of the Ula field in the south-eastern part of the North Sea.
Centrica Resources Norway, operator of production license 405, was trying to prove petroleum was trapped in the Upper Jurassic reservoir rock in a new segment located near previous oil find 8/10-4 S, which was uncovered in 2011.
The well, which failed to uncover any hydrocarbons, was the seventh exploration well drilled on production license 405.
Maersk Giant drilled the well to a depth of 1,945m below sea level before it was plugged and abandoned.
Maersk Giant has since been redeployed to drill ASA’s wildcat well 2/9-5 S located in the southern part of the North Sea.
