A deal between an American consultancy and a Danish manufacturer can soon see a new range of workboats joining the North Sea energy fleet.
The ProZero surfer, designed and built by Tuco Marine Group, is a waterjet-powered crew boat made out of lightweight materials ensuring quick and safe personnel transfers, according to the firm.
The new range, featuring 16 fast rescue boats (FRBs), daughter crafts and workboats, was launched in May this year, aimed at the professional market.
Now, the firm is targeting sales to the global oil and gas and renewables markets specifically, through its new partnership with New York-based Marine Oil Transportation Consultants (MarinOil).
The 16 metre ProZero consists of a glass fibre and carbon fibre shell around a PVC core, acting as the boat’s natural buoyancy reserve. It is capable of 23 knots carrying up to 12 passengers.
The latest design, based on proven hull lines, is primarily targeting energy operations offshore West Africa, but it would also suit North Sea operations, the Danish firm claims.
“The ProZero is a well-proven design that we have consistently refined to reflect the changing demands of operators,” said Jonas Pedersen, Tuco managing director.
“The core concept is a boat that gives a competitive advantage, not only in terms of weight, but also on delivery time and customization. The range is capable of operations in the North Sea as well other regional markets.
“In addition to offshore energy, it would also be suitable in the offshore wind industry which is a big user of these vessels.
“The potential fuel savings as well as the low maintenance costs of this type of light composite boat make it an attractive offering to clients, no matter where they operate.”
