Schlumberger, OneSubsea and Helix Energy Solutions Group have formed a strategic alliance focused on subsea well intervention systems.
The partnership will be focussed on developing technologies to optimise the efficiency and costs associated with well interventions, covering the full lifecycle from construction to decommissioning.
The three companies will pool their expertise and resources under the new alliance, combining marine support with well access and control technologies.
This is a familiar pairing for OneSubsea and Schlumberger, which are already joint-venture partners on a Cameroon operation.
Paal Kibsgaard, Schlumberger chief executive officer said: “This alliance reinforces our commitment, along with our OneSubsea joint-venture company partner Cameron, to help our customers improve production and recovery from their subsea developments. We are determined to drive further integration of our leading technology portfolio, backed by improved reliability and greater efficiency, to create a step-change in performance throughout the E&P value chain.”
Helix president and chief executive officer, Owen Kratz added: “Helix is proud to join OneSubsea and Schlumberger as industry leaders in a team to provide a truly comprehensive array of solutions in the area of well intervention. From well construction through production enhancement to decommissioning, this is an opportunity for our companies to work with our clients in realizing significant value creation through a fully integrated and collaborative team effort.”
Schlumberger is an industry heavyweight, employing 126,000 people in more than 85 countries. Helix is headquartered in Houston, Texas where it focusses on well intervention and robotics operations while OneSubsea specialises in reservoir recovery through various integration methods.
