Trade body Oil & Gas UK has extended the deadline for nominations for its annual awards by one week to allow entrants more time to share their stories.
Companies must now submit nominations by 5pm on Friday 22 August.
The eighth annual Oil & Gas UK Awards, sponsored by Shell UK, will take place at Aberdeen’s Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) on the evening of Thursday 6 November and will celebrate outstanding companies and inspirational people working in the offshore oil and gas industry.
The two main company awards – the Oil & Gas UK Award for Investment in People, sponsored by Petrotechnics and the Oil & Gas UK Award for Business Innovation, sponsored by BP – have been split into two categories, one for large and the other for smaller companies. The group also said that for the first time, this year’s awards will also encourage a more diverse range of players in the sector to share their achievements.
Outstanding individuals will also be recognised with awards for Mentor of the Year, sponsored by Chevron North Sea; Apprentice of the Year, sponsored by ECITB; and Graduate of the Year, sponsored by the University of Aberdeen all being announced on the night.
Stephen Marcos Jones, Oil & Gas UK’s business development director, said: “The nominations we received last year were of great quality, and judging by the forms we have received to date – competition is set to be as tough. We hope that by granting requests for this extension, we’ll be giving the companies and individuals leading our industry the best opportunity to promote their achievements.”
