Det norske oljeselskap’s wildcat well has come up dry.
The well, which was drilled 30km northeast of the Valhall field in the southern part of the North Sea, was the first to be drilled under production licence 494.
Drilling facility Maersk Giant drilled the well to a vertical depth of 3617 metres below the sea’s surface, but it failed to uncover any commercial returns.
It has since been plugged and abandoned.
Maersk Giant is now on route the YME field where Talisman Energy Norge is the operator.
