Premier Oil have announced the installation of a new subsea storage tank, jacket and topsides in the Solan oil field.
The company is now looking to push forward with the offshore hook up and commissioning programme, before extracting the reserves that are expected to produce around 40 mmbbls.
Premier currently owns 60% of the operated interest in Solan as of May 2011, with the other 40% being owned by Chrysaor. Approval was granted by the DECC in April 2012 for the company to develop the field with drilling commencing a year later.
Chief executive of Premier, Tony Durrant said: “We are very pleased to have successfully installed the Solan facilities within two and a half years of receiving approval from the UK government. This achievement was only made possible by the co-operation and skills of the teams and contractors involved.”
Solan is one of nine fields in the UK with an interest from Premier. Together the fields in produce a total 14,900 boepd, making up 26% of the group’s total production.
