Oil States (UK), the Aberdeen headquartered oil and gas service firm, is recruiting for 100 roles at its new Heartlands Business Park facility in West Lothian.
The company, which announced the restructuring of its UK business earlier this year, is seeking experienced welders, machinists, inspectors, maintenance and laboratory technicians as well as yard operatives and materials co-ordinators.
In May, Oil States (UK) unveiled £35million plans to transfer its manufacturing operation to Bathgate – affecting 100 jobs in Aberdeen.
The move sparked fears that more firms might follow suit as companies weigh up the price of doing business in the North Sea.
Announcing its recruitment drive in West Lothian, Oil States (UK) said it was a major boost for the local economy and would maintain its position as one of the area’s largest employers.
The 27-acre facility at Heartlands, which has both production and office accommodation, is currently under construction and 80 staff from the nearby Bathgate facility are expected to transfer at the beginning of next year.
Once the recruitment process is complete, the Heartlands site will house more than 200 staff.
Oil States (UK) – part of Oil States International – said: “From the West Lothian site, Oil States will operate a significant engineering research and development function to develop new, innovative products for the industry.
“The premises will also manufacture, service and repair a wide range of heavy steel components for the global offshore oil and gas industry.”
UK managing director Garry Stephen added: “Our new facility at Heartlands Business Park is on track to be up and running early next year.
“A key driver in our decision to relocate certain parts of the business from Aberdeen to central Scotland was access to a wider pool of talent and its prime location between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
“Oil States’ presence in the UK is growing and this commitment to create 100 new jobs in the Bathgate area will give successful applicants the opportunity to work with a global organisation at the start of an exciting period of growth for the company.”
