MOL Energy UK has bolstered its leadership ranks with three senior appointments.
Jonathan Chapman has joined the firm as subsea director. He previously held senior roles with BP, BG and Centrica. Steve Kemp left Centrica to join as operations and technical director and former group managing director at SPD, Neil Robertson, joined the firm as wells director.
Chris Bird, managing director of MOL Energy UK, said: “I am delighted that MOL Energy UK has been able to attract such a broad range of knowledge and expertise to join its leadership team. With the team in place, we are now in a great position to exploit future opportunities for growth in the North Sea.”
The move comes after the firm took charge of six non-operated North Sea assets earlier this year in a bumper $430million deal. The deal, struck with Premier Oil, was expected to add 14.3 million barrels of oil and gas to its proven reserves.
The firm has previously pledged to spend £3.6billion on oil and gas assets worldwide in coming years and confirmed it was on the lookout for more North Sea finds.
A company spokesperson added: “Completion of the senior management team closes out the first phase of MOL Group’s presence in Aberdeen. Over the coming months and into 2015, MOL Energy UK is looking forward to the successful outcome of its submission to the 28th UK licensing round. It will also proactively be considering further acquisition and partnership opportunities in the North Sea.”
