An international services energy company has added to its engineering team as it expands its operations across the globe.
Aberdeen-based Hunting recently acquired a contract worth $18million to supply wireline equipment to clients in the Far East.
The company is also expanding in the South Africa and Norway, where Orjan Froyland was recently appointed as a regional manager.
Both CNC machinists and process operators are being recruited to the company and an engineering team based at its offices in Aberdeen will be central to maintaining the demand for a range of products.
The establishment of a new facility in South Africa has also supported clients operating in West African fields and the Albertine Basin to the north of the continent.
Further growth potential in the deepwater regions has also been identified.
More than £17million has been invested in the main office and workshop facilities by Hunting, which established itself in the North Sea as a supplier of tubulars.
Bruce Ferguson, Hunting managing director, said: “Embracing new opportunities is at the heart of our business plan and we are in the process of establishing strong footholds in a number of key regions.
“The frontline work in developing our presence in these markets is vital – but it is supported by the excellence and innovation in engineering which underpins Hunting.
“We are recruiting at present as we build on the experienced team we have in place, with an emphasis on strengthening in key areas.
“The recent contract wins in the Far East underlined the potential for Hunting overseas.
“Behind that headline figure there is a great deal of work being done to grow the business in other regions, including Scandinavia and Africa, and we are confident about the prospects in these areas.”
A targeted series of acquisitions has broadened its offering and divisions now include well construction, well completion, well intervention and well testing.
There is also a dedicated subsea division supplying hydraulic valves, chemical injection systems and associated equipment that provides the highest reliability in ultra-deep water conditions.
The company was first established in 1874, and is a fully listed public company trading on the London Stock Exchange.
The global upstream activity focusing on well construction, well completion and well intervention products is coordinated through Hunting’s operation at Portlethen, near Aberdeen.
