The volume of Turkish gas carried by the Blue Stream pipeline will increase by 1billion cubic metres, it was announced today.
To satisfy the demand of the Turkey’s customers, Alexey Miller, and Taner Yildiz agreed after a meeting in Moscow that the pipeline will be expand from 16billion to 19billion cubic metres.
It was decided that the line running under the Black Sea will be filled with natural Russian gas and supply Turkey with a record-breaking 30billion cubic metres.
Alexey Miller said: “Turkey is our most evolving market in terms of supplies.
“Gazprom has always reacted to the growing gas demand in Turkey by boosting supplies via Blue Stream.
“Today’s decision will enable the Turkish economy to progress to a new stage.”
The Beregovaya CS in Russia and the Durusu receiving terminal in Turkey will be upgraded for the expansion to take place.
Alexey Miller is chairman of the Gazprom management committee of Russia and Taner Yildiz is Turkey’s minister of energy and natural resources.
