Subsea 7 has been awarded a contract in West Africa by CNR International (CNRI) to support development of its Baobab Field Phase III development.
Seven Pacific, the Subsea 7 vessel, is expected to execute the main offshore installation phase in the second quarter of 2015.
Both engineering and onshore project management will be carried out from the company’s office in Paris.
Olivier Carré, Subsea 7’s senior vice president in both Africa and the Gulf of Mexico, said: “This project has numerous phases which will need to be executed under a demanding timetable.
“We look forward to meeting these demands and developing our relationship with CNR International while consolidating our presence in West Africa.”
Baobab is part of the Côte d’Ivoire sedimentary basin of the Lower Cretaceous age.
The basin was formed after the breakup of continents and spreading of the South Atlantic Ocean and Baobab extends across a deep canyon in the basin.
The estimated reserves of the field are 700 million barrels of oil.
CNRI is the international division of Canadian Natural Resources and it manages its international core areas, including production in the UK North Sea and exploration and production assets offshire including the Cote d’Ivoire, Gabon and South Africa, from Aberdeen.
The firm employs about 400 people in the city.
